PSP & CBD Facts

1. PSP and CBD are terminal degenerative brain diseases.

2. PSP and CBD progressively destroy motor skills, causing ultimate paralysis.

3. PSP robs people of their ability to walk, talk, eat, drink and see. Patients become trapped in their own bodies unable to communicate, whilst remaining mentally alert.

5. CBD is also frquently misdiagnosed, most commonly as stroke or brain tumour because it initally affects one side of the body before progressively spreading to affect the other side.

6. The causes of PSP and CBD are unknown.

7. There is NO treatment and NO cure for either PSP or CBD.

8. More than 10,000 people in the UK have PSP and it is thought that up to 5,000 people have CBD at any one time.

9. PSP mainly affects the over 40s.

10. The PSP Association is the only UK charity dedicated to helping people with PSP and CBD. The charity was established in 1994.
